Gillette Gun Club Newsletter

January-February-March, 2012

Banquet Results: Our November banquet was a great success again this year and we would like to thank all of those in attendance as well as our terrific sponsors that really make it all possible.

The final tally is not in yet but our treasurer, Clyde Owen, says that we should be somewhere around twenty five to twenty six thousand dollars net once all of the money has been turned in.

Rifle/Pistol Range: Thanks to Chris Engle for spending some time at the range and working on the target holders. He has modified some of them so that should one of the them comes out, they can be replaced relatively easy. If you notice one that needs to be replaced, please take the time to put it back. To police the area is everyone’s responsibility and it will help Dave out also. Just a couple of things in regards to the rifle/pistol range. We are trying to get these things ironed out as they come up so please understand that no matter how long we are in business, something always seems to arise. As for the use of shotgun slugs and fifty caliber black powder guns, it is fine to use them at the range.

Please do not use shot shells or the large fifty caliber guns that are capable of shooting miles and doing a lot of damage.

If you are shooting the larger caliber black powder and shotgun slugs, would you try to use a target backing that is already in rough shape.

It will prevent having to replace the backings that are in better condition sooner. Also, we do not want anyone using any of the exploding targets. We have heard the reports from these and it is loud and also there seems to be a lot of particulate that is propelled through the air. Please take them elsewhere for your demonstrations if you would.

New Signage: A new rules and regulations sign has been positioned at the gate as you enter and we would hope that everyone takes a minute to read what it has to say. We still do not offer daily fees and if you have an option that you think would work, please come to the board meeting and offer it up.

We are not opposed to that and if you think your idea will work, we certainly would entertain your input. The next board meeting will be the second Tuesday in March at 7:30 P.M. at the clubhouse.

This newsletter will be on our website but a person can also pick up a copy at Rocky Mountain Sports, Gun Traders or at the gun club from Dave and Vonnie. If you would pass this on to fellow members, we would appreciate letting them know. Thanks and hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please be careful and treat every firearm as though it were loaded. Be safe at the range and in the field. The next newsletter will be available at the end of March should you have anything to put in it.
